Building on the restoration led by Portsmouth City Council, funded by the UK Government, the site has been reopened by the team behind Sea Lanes Brighton and will operate in partnership with South Downs Leisure. Phase 1 marks the return of outdoor swimming, food, drink and wellbeing spaces with further phases planned to continue the regeneration of the site.
At the heart of Hilsea Lido is its 67m open-air pool, set within landscaped surroundings, offering a rare opportunity to swim outdoors in the city. A place to move, reset and reconnect, with wellbeing experiences, family activities and food and drink it’s designed for people to spend time together.
Hilsea Lido has always been shaped by the people around it. Its restoration has been supported by a committed local community who have championed the site for years.
That same long-term care sits at the heart of how the lido is being restored and run. From how the space is maintained to how it’s used day to day, the focus is on creating something that lasts and works in balance with its surroundings.
Open, welcoming and easy to access, it’s a place for regular swimmers, first-timers, families, and anyone looking to spend time outdoors. A space rooted in the place and the people who enjoy it.
